Juliet glanced at her phone for the umpteenth time and sighed. She had lost interest in the Korean series that Zube convinced her to watch. Zube glanced in her direction and back to the computer screen.
Within, he wondered what could be eating his cousin up but being a man of few words, he swallowed his curiosity and gummed his eyes to the screen.
After what seemed like two hours (but was only a mere 10 minutes), Juliet swiped through her phone again and let out an even bigger sigh – this time, her countenance was as though she would cry.
Zube couldn’t take the suspense anymore. “What’s the matter J, looks like you’re expecting a call? You’ve been looking at your phone and frowning like it’s your enemy. Out with-it babe” he said.
With a resigned sigh and sober face, Juliet narrated the cause of her sadness.
Zube couldn’t believe it…
THE PROBLEM
Juliet had carefully written and designed a blog post and social media advertisement to promote her company’s new range of fashion accessories. She was excited because this was something she knew women would love. Yet, more than 48 hours after publishing and boosting the post on social media, she only had a handful of likes. No shares, comments or even inquiries.
She would chalk it down to her audience probably being engaged with their lives or maybe concocted another excuse, but this was a recurring incident. It almost felt like her audience wasn’t seeing her post or worse still, ignoring them. It was eating her up and she couldn’t take it anymore.
Zube sighed, drew her close and whispered “I feel your pain J, but instead of getting sad, why not consider this? You’re a genius with making accessories but perhaps writing compelling content isn’t your cup of tea – you should leave that to experts who are geniuses in that field.”
Juliet looked keenly into her cousin’s face and nodded “I guess you’re right. The one time we hired a good content agency to run targeted content marketing and social media campaigns for us, we recorded increased engagement and leads. You know me now; I was just thinking of how to save money by doing it myself. Now, I’ve not only lost some money, but I’ve also lost my peace and joy.”
Now, I’ve not only lost some money, but I’ve also lost my peace and joy.”
